This will make a fine addition to my wall of posters (also known as my living room).
Where, oh where will I manage to fit it in though?

What better than seeing Gomez live?
Tomorrow night will be the tenth time I have seen Gomez in a little over seven and a half years.
I am just as excited as if I had never seen them!

zanken answered your question: Ok, so Gomez are selling an After Party Pass for…
The band would have to have a particularly impressive track record of engaging with their fans for that money to be worthwhile.
Well, for others, when you think about the CD is worth $20 and I’d pay $30 for a poster, so it’s sort of value for money. Just for me, I don’t need either, so it’s pretty much $50 just to meet them…
Ok, so Gomez are selling an After Party Pass for their upcoming tour for $50.
It gets you:
I’m a pretty big fan (have seen them nine times already and this tour will make 11) but I don’t think I can justify it.
The only way I would consider it would be if the meet and greet was actually an all-night bender on the drink with them and very few other “fans”. That would be worthwhile. I can’t see the point of just meeting them, saying “Hi, I’m a big fan” and hearing them say “Thanks, that means a lot” then potentially getting a photo.
I already have the CD (and autographs are a bit overrated) and their B-sides album and Live album (none of which are mindblowing) and the only three times I have asked the Corner for leftover promo posters I have been given one.
Thoughts?
Ok, so I may have already bought a ticket to both Corner Hotel shows for Gomez.
They sold out the Palace last time they were in town so one can’t risk these things…
If I end up going to both shows (I will) that will be 11 times I’ve seen them live.
They are touring again!
October 21-22 at the Corner!
15 year anniversary tour!

Tonight is a good night!

In 2011, it seemed like I got to see a lot of amazing drummers live - either technically outstanding or just purely joyous to watch. Not being a musician myself, I have a lot of respect for what they do, since its so common for the drummer to be lost in the background. Here’s a list of some of my favourite drumming performances for the year (in chronological order because I couldn’t possibly rank them).
In reality, there is probably only 2-3 songs from my favourite 10 of the year in this list. The others aren’t available because JJJ are horribly inconsistent in selecting which songs are available for voting and which are excluded. In previous years I’d have voted for my favourite 10 songs that were available in the voting, but I really couldn’t be bothered this year so I’m just filling up on local bands that I’d like to see make it in.
