Best liner notes ever?
I feel I need to remind everyone about this. The greatest liner notes ever written.

This was my first gig for 2013 and if anything comes close to topping it then it will be a good year indeed.
I still see people writing negative reviews about how arrogant The Hives are and I thought the same thing when I first saw them. It was a few days before Australia Day at the Gold Coast Big Day Out and Pelle spent the whole time telling the crowd that they’re the greatest band in the world and that they expected to have five songs in the top-five of the Hottest 100. Like some sort of inside joke I was ready for it second time around and could see past it enough to enjoy their set.
Now I couldn’t see it any other way. In terms of stage presence and performance they have a legitimate claim to being the greatest band in the world. Their show tonight was full of intense, relentless energy from a band loving what they do and doing it better than most could dream of. Pelle is a true performer and the crowd was putty in his hands for the whole night.
Rating:
The Hives - 10/10
Guys…. Guys!
I know it’s old news that The Hives have roadies who dress as Ninjas, but tonight I found out they’re REAL NINJAS!!!
Throughout their set, one Ninja caught FOUR GUITAR PICKS flicked from THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STAGE, all only with the stage lighting to help him out.
Amazed.
The Hives - Wait A Minute

Nearly all of my thoughts about why I love this album can be summed up by this quote in this interview on Fasterlouder (which I must say is one of the best artist interviews I’ve ever read/seen - kudos to John Dean. If any of you know this bloke IRL buy him a beer)
“Lex Hives is just ‘Law of The Hives’ in Latin and this album is sort of a celebration of why we formed the band and why we kept going as a band”
It’s probably just easier for you to just read that interview, fall in love with them (or even just their ideals) then listen to the album and fall in love with that.
